British Columbia & Vancouver Island, 1860, 2½d dull rose, perf 14. Uncancelled, paying local postage (probably from Victoria) on 1864 cover to Washington D.C. in combination with United States 1861 3¢ rose tied by San Francisco cogwheel cancel with double circle postmark alongside paying the transcontinental rate after July 1863, both stamps have defects, Fine, this rate is rare from B.C. and was soon raised for British Columbia mail. SG No. 2.

British Columbia & Vancouver Island, 1860, 2½d dull rose, perf 14. Tied by barred numeral "1" cancel of Victoria, Vancouver Island to cover to New Westminster, minor discoloration from wax seal, flap torn, Fine, ex-Warren Wilkinson collection. SG No. 2.

British Columbia & Vancouver Island, 1860, 2½d dull rose, perf 14. Tied by black "1" in bars of New Westminster on cover, either a local town rate or mailed on ship at Victoria and canceled on arrival, Henry Hitt's pencil note on reverse regarding shade of stamp, "the pinkest 2½d I ever saw, a very pretty shade", minor central toned spot from wax seal on reverse, Very Fine. SG No. 2.

British Columbia & Vancouver Island, 1860, 2½d pale dull rose, perf 14. Uncancelled, used to pay local postage on cover with light strike of "B.C. V. Paid Express Co." blue handstamp, large mended cover tear, Fine, British Columbia & Victoria Express was operated by Frank Barnard in 1862 and usages are rare, similar cover with same addressee and uncanceled stamp in Welburn collection. SG No. 3.

Two singles, tied together with smudged upside-down black "4" oval cancel of Yale on small pink envelope to New Westminster, tiny perf tear affecting right stamp & left with repaired corner, F.-V.F., a nice mainland local usage. SG No. 3.

Defective, paying local Vancouver Island postage & tied by "Victoria Coat of Arms" in blue on 1864 folded letter to London, sent via San Francisco, but without USA stamps with "1/" (equivalent to 24¢ USA postage) collected in England, Fine, a rare & unusual usage. SG No. 3.

Complete to large margins, neatly tied by blue "Paid" cancel to Crease correspondence cover to New Westminster, pencil writing vertically across cover could probably be easily removed, Very Fine and a rare usage, ex-Warren Wilkinson collection. SG No. 11.

Pair, tied by "Provisional Cancel" on cover to Victoria paying the 6d rate from up-country, flap torn & some minor cover toning, F.-V.F., this unusual cancel was probably used before numeral in bars were issued to mainland British Columbia gold-rush post offices. SG No. 21.
