3¢ rose, specialized collection. A lovely collection in two binders including mint, used & covers of the 1861-67 3¢ issues, included are fancy cancels, color cancels, multiples, essays, paper varieties, proofs, shades, Specimen, grills, etc., many better items are present such as #56 mint, the 1861 3¢ includes two mint blocks of 4 (one with imprint), mint imprint & Plate number strip of 4, mint block of 9 with part imprint, mint block of 25 with part imprint, plus used 3¢ A. Grill, used 3¢ C. Grill, used 3¢ D. Grill, used 3¢ Z. Grill (grills all unchecked, but appear to be right, "as is"), many cancels are present both on & off cover, a few of the off cover include two singles with "A.J." in grid of Brattleboro Vt. (one in black & one in blue, a couple very nice fancy Shield cancels, French "Anchor" lozenge cancel, etc., the covers are well represented including one cover franked with 3¢ + 30¢ to Switzerland, a number of advertising covers are present as well as a number of cover with auxiliary markings, mixed condition, but a fine lot put together by a real student of the issue, worth careful inspection.

Mint accumulation, 1861-1898. 51 better items in glassine, including some nice later banknote issues, Columbians including 30¢ x2, 50¢ & $2.00 values, small banknotes, good small bureaus including a #262 & #276A, Trans-Miss issues including $1.00 (nicely centered with thins); condition mixed as to be expected with some nice material throughout, owner's 2003 cat $15,857, worth careful inspection.

One binder with 155 singles & 15 covers with single frankings all with various "Paid" cancels, some better distinctive cancels present including "Balto Paid", New London "Paid" in italics, "Paid" in oval from Grantville, Mass., "Paid 3" of Westborough, Mass., several different type with "Paid" at top of circular handstamp in arc, "3 Paid" of Bristol Con., "Paid" with Star of Bond's Village, Mass., "Paid" with arc above & below of Blakeville, N.H., Dedham, Mass. fancy "Paid", one manuscript "Paid", etc., mixed condition, a nice lot for the specialist.
