Sonora, California/Nov, 25 1851 (Tuolumne). Blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) with manuscript "10" rate on folded cover to Baltimore, letter with interesting contents which mentions water shortage to wash gold dust due to drought, Democratic Presidential convention & Sam Houston, Very Fine and choice, a very nice strike of this postmark & the earliest recorded example.

Blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) on folded cover to Philadelphia franked with 1851 3¢ orange brown pair (small faults) cancelled by matching blue straight line "Paid" handstamp, letter with interesting contents, Fine, a rare usage with adhesives, ex-Jessup, Polland & Haas.

Sonora, California/Dec. 27, 1851 (Tuolumne). Blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) on cover to Illinois with matching straight line "Paid" & manuscript "6" rate, accompanied by an 1851 3¢ orange brown pair (small faults) with straight line postmark of same date, Very Fine.

Sonora, California/Feb 4, 1852 (Tuolumne). Blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) tying two singles (formerly a pair) of 1851 3¢ orange brown on folded cover to Ohio, letter datelined Robinson's Ferry with interesting mining contents, stamps irregularly separated, F.-V.F.

Sonora, California/Feb, 11. 1852 (Tuolumne). Blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340) tying 1851 3¢ orange brown pair (small defects) on cover to Maryland, cover with minor gum staining, Very Fine, an extremely rare example of this postmark tying the stamps on cover, Pictured in Letters of Gold.

Group of four covers & three folded letters with blue two line postmark (Williams TUO-1340), all with handstamped rate markings, one with matching "Paid" straight line handstamp & "3"¢ in circle, two with matching unpaid 5¢ rates (different types), two with matching "Paid" straight line handstamp & "6"¢ rate handstamp (different types), two with unpaid "10"¢ rate in circle, some interesting content included with folded letters, most all with nice strikes, generally Very Fine.

Sonora, Cal./May 10, 1852 (Tuolumne). Straight line postmark aligned at left & right (Williams TUO-1350) on folded cover to San Francisco with manuscript "5" rate, cover forwarded 4 months later to Baltimore with additional "10" cent rate & "San Francisco/Sep 1" cds, contents include "Your rifle forwarded by Reynolds, Todd & Co. Express should be in San Francisco", marking inverted with some doubling, Fine and scarce, the only example of this marking in the Newton collection.

Straight line postmark in black (Williams TUO-1360) with manuscript date "17 May '52" on folded cover to San Francisco with manuscript "5"¢ rate, cover fowarded to Baltimore & advertised with manuscript "10"¢ & "1"¢ rate markings, cover forwarded from San Francisco with cds of Sept. 1, 3½ months after sending, small sealed cover tear at top, Very Fine, a very rare straight line marking, Pictured in Letters of Gold.
