New Zealand, Paid at Auckland, New Zealand. Red crowned circle handstamp on 1859 envelope to England rated manuscript "6" and forwarded with pair of G.B. 1d. Red perf. affixed over Crowned Circle, backstamped Aucland cds & Great Britain arrival cancels, small cover tear at top, Very Fine, a most unusual usage, these stamps may have originated in New Zealand and been stamped on arrival.

Lot 2257    

New Zealand, 1855-58, 1sh green, vertical bisect. Used with 1857-61 2d blue strip of 3 on 1858 missionary cover from Otago to Germany, bisect tied by numeral 18 grid cancel of Otago & strip cancelled by three strikes of same, sent via London with red transit backstamp with Bremen arrival, the cover has been clean with two additional 2d stamp missing & the strip may not originate on this cover, however 1995 Peter Holcombe certificate believes they do belong, Fine, still one of the outstanding rarities of New Zealand, ex-Pack.

New Zealand, 1899, 1sh Marotiri Island Pigeon Gram. Sheet margin block of 6, o.g., stamp never hinged, hinged in selvage only, thin in bottom left stamp, otherwise Very Fine, a very scarce multiple of this seldomly offered private stamp, with only 600 issued.
