Wells Fargo & Co. forwarding on cover from Germany. Cover to Stockton, Cal. with origin and Aachen transit postmarks at right and "N. York A, pkt., 30, Dec 31" cds at left, forwarded to San Francisco with 1861, 3¢ rose tied by Wells, Fargo & Co. "Paid" in oval handstamp, Stockton, Cal. postmark at center, cover soiling and faults with a side backflap missing, otherwise Fine, still a rare out-of-the-mails express forwarding usage.
