Confederacy, Raleigh, N.C., 1861, 5¢ red. Provisional handstamp with blue "Raleigh, N.C." double circle postmark on small Ladies' cover to Lt. Col. Beadley Johnson, 1st. Maryland Regt., in Centerville Heights, Va. (who would later become a Confederate States General), flap torn, Very Fine, a rare & unusual item, this regiment would later fight the 1st Maryland regiment attached to the Union Forces at the Battle of Gettysburg, ex-Dietz.
