Tied by "Jaluit 18/10, 98" cds on Germany 10pf letter card to Dresden, Germany, letter datelined "Butaritari, Gilbert Islands, 14, Juni, 1898" carried privately to Jaluit where it took 4 months to enter the mails, additional senders handstamp and receiving postmarks on reverse, Very Fine, an extremely rare usage from the Gilbert Islands, quite possibly unique; signed Rohr. Michel No. 3 II.

Iroquois, Apia, Samoa" endorsement at upper left, Honolulu receiving backstamp, cover with tiny edge tears and reduced at right into endorsement, F.-V.F., a very scarce German forerunner usage from Samoa.
