Confederacy, 1862 Blockade Cover to Rome, Italy. Forwarded through London with large manuscript 6 rate at center and reverse with "Liverpool, Ship, De 23, 1862" boxed date stamp and red "London, Ship Letter, De 24, 62" cds, sent under separate cover from Savannah via Charleston to Nassau, Bahamas, forwarder at Nassau removed cover and sent it to England where it entered the mails to Barring Brothers, then sent under another separate cover to Rome, docketing at top accounting for three letters in envelope; cover corner wear and a few sealed tears, F.-V.F., a rare blockade usage to Italy; with 2007 C.S.A. certificate.

Confederacy, Confederate soldier covers. 4 stampless covers; each with soldier regimental endorsement and due 10 rates, with origin postmarks including Atlanta, Ga., Tudor Hall, Va., Winchester, Va. & Selma, Ala., each with detailed biography; condition mixed, F.-V.F.

Confederacy, New Orleans, La., Feb 27. Town postmark with "Steamship 10" rate handstamp on 1861 folded letter from Veracruz, Mexico to New York City, Veracruz oval date stamp on reverse, F.-V.F., a very scarce CSA usage of U.S. postal markings on transiting mail to a northern state; with 1984 P.F. certificate.
Estimate    $400 - 600.

Louisiana was admitted into the Confederacy on February 4, 1861.

Uncanceled on cover to Stony Point, Va., 1861, 10¢ blue applied over provisional and canceled by "Fredricksburg, Va., Sep 5, 1862" cds; provisional with a small piece adhering to the 10¢ at top right and 10¢ with creases with one slightly breaking paper at bottom, F.-V.F. appearance, an rare post provisional usage; with 2006 C.S.A. certificate.
