Hawaii, Inter-island steamer cancels. Approximately 30 stamps and cut sqaures and cover, includes multiple copies of the the very scarce Stmer. C.R. Bishop and James Makee, the scarce I Walani & Planter, the W.G. Hall, including dateline handstamps from inter-island steamers, rare manuscript schooner markings and a Wilder's Steamship cds on reverse of cover and a company waybill, Fine (no photo).

Lot 2364    

Hawaii, Inter-island steamship mail collection, 1903-36. Approximately 80 covers mounted in album, an exceptional array of handstamps from the various companies, including Wilder's Steamship Co. with "Kinau" oval and straight line date stamps, Inter-Island Steamship Navigation Co. with various date stamp from the Mauna Loa, Kinau, S.S. Mauna, Kea, W.G. Hall & Mikahala and many different "received outside of the mails" handstamps, the Matson Navigation Co. including various S.S. Wilhelmina date stamps, also S.S. Matsonia, S.S. Manoa, S.S. Manulani, etc., also includes some packetboat mail from South Pacific and a small section Inter-Island Airways mail, condition a little mixed, F.-V.F. overall.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

Hawaii, Maritime mail. Three United States postal entires with various ship markings including straight line "Mariposa", "Moana" & third with illustrated corner card of "The Pacific Guano & Fertilizer Co." with straight line "Ship" marking, also one picture postcard from the Pacific Mail Steamship Co., "On Board S.S. Manchuria", Very Fine.

Lot 2366    

Hawaii, Missionary ship covers, 1852-54. Two covers; 1852 cover to New Hampshire sent by Rev. Luther Halsey Gulick to brother, docketed "Recd' Halsey on board the Ester May, Feb 9th 1852", Rev Gulick arrived in Honolulu May 28 on his way to Ponape (Micronesia), entered the mails with straight line "Ship" and "7" rate handstamps, red "Boston, Mass., Feb 5" cds, 1854 cover sent from Ponape to Oahu, Sandwich Islands, entered the mail with "San Francisco, Cal., Mar 7" cds with matching "Ship" and "8" rate handstamps, docketed "From H & L (Halsey & Louisa Gulick) Feb 1854, previous to the raging of the small pox on Ponape" at left, 1854 with soiling and toning, F.-V.F. overall.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Hawaii, Sand. Isld., per Ship "Charles", Dec 23 1846. Manuscript endorsement on cover to Detroit, Mich., manuscript "12" rate with red straight line "Ship" and matching "New Bedford, Ms., May 5" cds, Very Fine, privately carried by the waling ship Charles before entering the mails in New Bedford.

Australia, Per "S.S. City of Rio De Janeiro", Per S.S. "Belgic", etc., J.D. Spreckles & Bros. Co. oval forwarder handstamp, condition varies, Fine.

Hawaii, Steamer "Off Kahului" and "Off Kahakuloa". Two hand-painted watercolors of steamers of the north coast of Maui, on reverse of unused U.S. 1902 1¢ McKinley postal cards, artist signed and dated "C.B. Kinney '08".

Hawaii, Steamship endorsement covers. 6 covers; 3 with U.S.S. Iroquois handstamps in purple on covers to Berkeley Cal with 2¢ soldiers rate, one folded legal size, S.S. Mariposa including manuscript endorsement on 10¢ provisional entire and illustrated ship and map corner card, also S.S. Sierra on 2¢ rose from Pago, Pago, Samoa in 1928, condition mixed, generally Fine.
