1851, 1¢ blue, type II. Positions 1-2R2, horizontal pair, left sheet margin but other sides slightly in, bright shade, used with 3¢ Dull Red, large margins to slightly in, tied by blue "Cincinnati & Louisville Mail Route Sep. 17" route agent's circular datestamp on small 1856 cover to Spezzia, Italy, addressed to naval officer Richard Law on board the U.S.S. Constellation, red New York and black Calais transit datestamps, manuscript "17" due, British, French and Italian transits on back, top flap folded up slightly, 1¢ pair creased where originally overlapping edge of cover, 3¢ large tear, slight wear, otherwise Fine, a very rare use on this marking on foreign mail.

1851, 1¢ blue, type II. Plate 1E, horizontal pair, ample margins to slightly in at left, faint bend at bottom right due to placement of pair, black grid cancels with red "New Orleans La. Apr. 7" circular datestamp on 1852 folded cover to Bordeaux, France, red Paris transit ties pair, "13" decimes due handstamp, receiving backstamps, Fine and attractive, scarce Plate 1 Early usage.

1851, 1¢ blue, type II. Plate 2, pair and single, used as forwarding postage, first postage paid by 1857 3¢ Dull Red (26) tied by grid, "Donaldsonville La. Mar. 6" circular datestamp on folded cover to St. Michel's Parish, Convent P.O., redirected to New Orleans and 1¢ stamps tied by "Convent La." circular datestamp (month in manuscript.), some scattered toning, 1¢ stamps somewhat toned but colors are rich, Fine, a most unusual combination of imperf and perforated issues.

(positions 55-56L1L) large to huge margins all around, tied by "New Orleans, La., Sep 16" cds on printed circular sent via Calais to Feldkirch, Austria, manuscript "3" kruezer local collect and reverse with straight line receiving postmark, an Extremely Fine gem, a wonderfully choice open circular rate usage to Austria; with 2001 P.F. certificate.
