Adams & Co's Express, San Francisco, bold sharp "Forwarded By" oval handstamp on ca. 1851 blue linen cover to Sacramento City, with manuscript "Paid" and "per Adams & Co., 25¢" express and rate endorsement at top; some minor edge discoloration, Very Fine, an exceptional strike of this unique Adam's Express forwarding handstamp which most likely dates to shortly after Adam's rate reduction which was implemented on July 21, 1851, ex Dale - Lichtenstein.

Bannack City Express, clear strike of tombstone handstamp on cover to Tallmadge, Ohio, with manuscript "Free" at top as sent by the governor of Montana territory, Sidney Edgerton, "A.J. Oliver & Cos, Bannock and Salt Lake Express" handstamp, letter carried into Bannack City and then down to Salt Lake City with "T.D. Brown, Agent, S.L. City" handstamp applied upon arrival, Brown placing cover into the mails with "Salt Lake City, Mar 14,64" cds and target duplex, franked with 1861, 3¢ rose tied by target; reinforced cover edge wear & nick, repaired cover reduction at right, otherwise F.-V.F., a very rare free express usage.
