Confederacy, Pendleton, SC, neat blue town cancel tying 1862, 10c blue Stone Y (four close to large margins) on folded letter announcing writer's candidacy for messenger of the House of Representatives, wounded at Manassas, etc., natural paper wrinkle affecting folded cover (reinforced from the back to prevent splitting, not involving the stamp), Very Fine, A lovely copy of this elusive stamp.

Dec. 12, manuscript postmark at left on cover franked with 1861 10¢ light blue Paterson (large margins, slight scuff in bottom margin) used with squiggle manuscript cancel, addressed to Charleston where redirected to Camden with pair of 1862 5¢ blue local prints (just in at bottom) tied by "Charleston, S.C. Dec 14, 1862" double circle, affixed over & partially hiding the Pineville manuscript cancel, slight ink erosion in the address, Very Fine and attractive, Scarce use.
