1857, 1¢ blue, types IIIa-III-III, vertical strip of three. Positions 58-68-78R4, well centered strip with middle stamp showing frameline break at bottom (relief C) and bottom stamp showing break at top (relief D), tied by "Hyde Park, Pa., May 31" cds's on cover to Mehoopany, Pa., "Recd June 1/59" docketing additionally tying strip; cover with a few light abrasions and reduced at left, otherwise Very Fine, an extremely rare multiple combination strip on cover; with 2007 P.S.E. certificate, Ashbrook plating on reverse.

1857, 1¢ blue, type IV, three singles. Barely overlapping and tied by "Cazenovia, N.Y., Nov 30, Paid" cds's on exceptionally fresh A.W. VanRiper, Town Clock Maker illustrated ad cover to New York City; bottom stamp with small scuff at lower right, still Extremely Fine, a wonderful early advertising usage.

(positions 21-25, 32-35L9), all tied by "San Francisco, Cal., Apr 26, 1861" cds on cover to Doylestown, Pa.; cover edge wear and stamps with single overlapping cover at right and crease and defects in strip of four at left, Fine appearance, a scarce usage of the 1¢ blue, type V paying the transcontinental rate, signed and plated by Ashbrook.

Pkt. cds and fancy "Calcutta Steam Letter" on reverse; couple folds between 1¢ stamps; a rare destination and, a Fine cover.
