Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ blue. Block of 20, full o.g., fresh with bright color, margins ample to in at top right, faults including small tear, small thin and crease affecting three stamps, F.-V.F. appearance, a very scarce multiple.

Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ blue. Margins mostly full, tied on locally addressed folded letter sheet by blue "Petersburg, Va." cds, with "Written on Ram Virginia" notation at top in pencil, Very Fine, a overpaid drop letter originating from the CSS Virginia, the ironclad ram which was converted from the hulk of the steamer USS Merimack.
