Reg., 17 Sept., 47" and second strike dated Oct. 5, various manuscript rate markings, Very Fine, a very scarce transatlantic usage; with 2004 van der Linden certificate.

Endorsement on folded letter sheet to Oberschwandorf, Württemberg, written by Swabian immigrant participating in the Mexican-American War, with red "Colonies &cc.Art.13." boxed handstamp and reverse with "21 Au 1848, Liverpool, Ship" transit postmark, Boulogne French entry cds and "8" decimes handstamp, numerous rates with manuscript "1/36" rate at lower right; light cover flyspecking and sealed tear affecting French postmark, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare and possibly unique Mexican War letter to Württemberg.
