Blue manuscript postmark with "Paid 10" internal rate on folded letter to Mergentheim, endorsed "Via New York and Havre de Grace" of the French packet line Hérout & De Handel, red "Le Havre, Paq. Reg., 17 Sept., 47" and second strike dated Oct. 5, various manuscript rate markings, Very Fine, a very scarce transatlantic usage; with 2004 van der Linden certificate.

Württemberg, 1848 "From the Army of the United States - to Mexico". Endorsement on folded letter sheet to Oberschwandorf, Württemberg, written by Swabian immigrant participating in the Mexican-American War, with red "Colonies &cc.Art.13." boxed handstamp and reverse with "21 Au 1848, Liverpool, Ship" transit postmark, Boulogne French entry cds and "8" decimes handstamp, numerous rates with manuscript "1/36" rate at lower right; light cover flyspecking and sealed tear affecting French postmark, otherwise Very Fine, a very rare and possibly unique Mexican War letter to Württemberg.

All tied by Cannstatt, 7 Aug, 1856 cds's on folded letter sheet to Manila, Phillippines Islands, endorsed "pr land mail via Marseille" at top, reverse with French transit cds's and entry postmark, blue "2" reales due handstamp applied upon entry in Manila; cover with horizontal file fold affecting one 1kr value, F.-V.F., a very rare usage to the Philippine Islands; with 1996 Heinrich and 1997 van der Linden certificates.
