Cherokee Express, Paid. Ornate boxed frank on 1853 3¢ Nesbitt entire to Oroville, Cal., bold blue oval Well Fargo Oroville date stamp (Leutzinger type 11-9), trimmed at left slightly into frank, otherwise Extremely Fine, ex Kramer.

Cherokee Express, Paid. Blue oval handstamp tying 1861, 3¢ rose on cover to Oroville, Cal., with original enclosure datelined "Cherokee, Aug 28th, 65", Extremely Fine, ex Jarrett.

Crawford's Middle Fork Express. Clear red oval handstamp on 1853 3¢ Nesbitt entire to Greenwood, Cal., red "Big Oak Flat, Cal., Oct 19" cds (Williams TUO-20) and matching grid canceling indicia; slightly reduced at left, Very Fine, a rare small express that operated between Placerville and Greenwood, with only five recorded usages and only two with this handstamp used by itself.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Crooks Express, Scotts River. Light but mostly clear blue oval handstamp on Wells Fargo franked 1853 3¢ red entire to Yreka, F.-V.F., only six covers are known, this one better than most as this handstamp is just readable, ex Lichtenstein.

Deming and Wall., Union and Eureka Express., Paid. Printed frank with a steamboat and sailing ship integrated into design of frank, on stampless buff envelope to Bucksport (nearby in Humboldt county), Extremely Fine, this is the only known cover from this express company and one of the most interesting, ex Edwards, Haas.
