Wells Fargo & Co., Sacramento. 8 entires; 3 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entires with blue double oval date stamps (type 11-5), 2 3¢ Star Die entires with double circle date stamp (type 11-2), also on two 1864, 3¢ pink entires; one paste-up usage & one with shaded ad, 1870, 3¢ green entire with blue oval date stamp, F.-V.F. or better.

Blue oval handstamp (Leutzinger type 8-10) on 1863 3¢ pink entire to San Francisco, Cal., black Haller type E printed frank, with allover shaded ad of "John Arnold, Importer & Jobber of Groceries", with original enclosure; trimmed at right just touching indicia, Fine.

Wells Fargo & Co., Sacramento (Sacramento). Bold small red oval handstamp (Leutzinger type 1-23) on cover to San Francisco, Extremely Fine, the earliest Wells Fargo mark for Sacramento (a new unlisted mark) and certainly one of, if not the finest known, ex Salzer (with his notes on reverse).
Estimate    $750 - 1,000.

This cover along with the Sacramento "Too Late" and Assembly marking are amoung the most important Sacramento Wells Fargo covers.

Oval date stamp on 1864, 3¢ pink entire with company frank at top, addressed to New York City, carried by overland by stage to the Union Pacific Railroad and handed over to Boyd's Express for city delivery, with "Boyd's Dispatch, 34 Fulton St., Dec 14, 1867" cds and matching "Paid" in circle handstamp, Very Fine, an attractive combination usage carried completely outside of the mails.
