1876 3¢ Centennial Proof Entires. Lot of three mint entires in purple, magenta and orange, hint of minor toning & one with trace of wrinkle, still Extremely Fine.

Lot 1942    

1876 Centennial Envelopes. Lot of original Postal circular describing the Centennial envelopes, six mint entires (four green & two red), two blue Entire bundle wrappers with gold monogram, one used green entire postmarked "Philadelphia/May 22" (1876, very early use) with original enclosure which states in part, How do like my envelope? It is Centennial made in the U.S. Building. They have a machine there that cuts, folds, counts and puts the "stickem" stuff on at the rate of 120 per minute, plus one unused green entire with pencil inscription, Centennial Exposition (Phila. 1876) I saw the first Typewriting machine. the factory (Remington) had a number of young girls on a long counter receiving dictation from the public (50 cents per letter of 6-10 lines) and I dictated and mailed such a novelty of a letter to my old mother. In the Govt. building near by, envelopes were printed & stamped on it like this. I bought some & kept this one ever since. As you are interested in Postage Stamps I thought I send you this one. If it is no good for collections as it has not been cancelled by Post Office mark, just destroy it., dated "July 2, 1913", Very Fine, an interesting group for the Postal Historian, ex-G. Turner.

Centennial, Phil'da, Pa. Cds (Bomar P76-01) on large size cover to U.S.C.(entennial) Commissioner, Virginia City, Montana, franked with 6¢ Bank Note tied by cork cancel paying the double 3¢ rate, some cover edge wear, Very Fine, a scarce usage.

Centennial, Phil'da, Pa. Expo. cds (Bomar P76-01) tying 3¢ + 2¢ Bank Notes on cover to London with smudge cancels & red "Philadelphia" exchange cds, 2¢ corner bend & blunt perfs, Very Fine, a scarce usage to an overseas destination.

Centennial R.P.O./Phil'a, Pa. Rimless cds (Bomar P76-03) on two different facing slips from Railway cars in operation at the Expo., dated "Sep. 26" & "Sep. 27", Very Fine and rare, ex-M. White & G. Turner.

Centennial, Phil'a'da, Pa. Exposition cds (Bomar P76-01) with segmented cork cancel on 3¢ green Centennial Postal entire with sky blue embossed Exposition cameo corner card (this is cut from reverse of different Expo. stationery), entire with type written address to Hartford, Ct., included is original type written letter from the Remington Typewriter exhibit, letter text style #3: Pre-printed message, with only the salutation, sender?s name and date being typed. Many of the ?canned words and phrases? from Style #2 were included as part of the printed text. The typed portion has serifed lettering., Very Fine.
