Wells, Fargo & Co., The Earliest Known Wells Fargo Cover To a Foreign Destination. Originating at San Francisco January 7, 1855 and addressed to England, carried under separate cover by Wells Fargo to New York City, where their blue New York oval handstamp was struck on the reverse; despite a manuscript "Paid thro" on the face, the letter was sent unpaid by American packet, with the New York exchange office's 21¢ debit cds and British 1/- [due] rate marking, Liverpool and Sheffield handstamps on reverse, Very Fine and rare.

Wells Fargo & Co., Usage to Canada. Black frank and manuscript "Overland "endorsement below on 1864, 3¢ pink entire to Stratford, Canada with two strikes of "Union Pacific, Dec 17" cds's and blue oval "Paid" company handstamp in corner, "1868" docketing on reverse, Very Fine.

Black company frank on 1864 entire to Paris, France, uprated with "1861, 10¢ green + 30¢ orange + 1863, 2¢ black", grid cancelled with blue "Paid Through" straight line handstamp slightly under 2¢, red New York exchange and French entry cds's; indicia in upper right corner removed and appropriately replaced, Fine.

Black printed frank on 3¢ pink entire to Nova Scotia, uprated with 1863, 5¢ brown + 1867, 2¢ black, F. grill, pair tied by pinwheel handstamps, blue "Paid" in oval and matching straight line "Paid Through" handstamp; left 2¢ stamp with lower left corner defect and light perf toning, F.-V.F., a scarce double rate usage.
