Oka, Mont., Dec 14, 1887. Full cds (type 2) with matching target handstamp tying 1887, 2¢ green on cover to Lewiston, Mont., receiving backstamp and original enclosures; light cover corner stain and slight reduction at right, a Very Fine strike, one of two recorded.

Lot 1005    

Parker, 4/14/81. Manuscript postmark on 1875, 1¢ postal card to Helena, Mont., reverse datelined "Fort Maginnis", Very Fine, the only recorded example of this manuscript territorial postmark.
Estimate    $100 - 150.

In 1880 Fort Maginnis was established. The post office was named Parker after it's postmaster Amelia Parker. Later the name was change to Fort Maginnis in 1881.
