Hawaii, Hamakua Mill Co. Purple straight line handstamp (Davey 603) on 1893, 10¢ Provisional entire to London, England to the manager of the plantation, "Honolulu, H.I., Sep 30, 1894" duplex cds's and London receiver in reverse, cover fumigated during the 1895 cholera epidemic with clipped corner at upper left, Very Fine, a very scarce on cover plantation mark.

Henry Davis and readdressed to Mary Matthies in Hamilton, N.Y., red "New London, Ct., Jan 19" cds and matching straight line "Ship" handstamp, manuscript "20¾" rate and endorsed "ship friend Capt Blydenburgh", with first part of letter datelined "Ship Mentor, April 20, 1833, 149 days out" written during Diell's 161 day voyage to Honolulu, with interesting content regarding voyage including encountering a violent storm off Cape Horn, Very Fine.

Lot 1719    

Hawaii, Honolulu, August 31st, 1844. Dateline on lenghty 2 page letter to Oswego, N.Y., entered the U.S. mails with red "New Bedford, Ms., Jan 15" cds, matching straight line "Ship" handstamp and manuscript "12" rate, letter relateing to commerce and lengthy voyage; expertly repaired at lower left and light stains, F.-V.F., J. Tuurill, the author of the letter, arrived in Hawaii in 1844 to take up the post of U.S. Consul (1845-1850).
Estimate    $400 - 600.
