Manuscript postmark and "Way 16" rate (10¢ + 50% = 15¢ postage + 1¢ way) on 1815 folded letter to Gilmanton, N.C., letter regarding friends misfortune in the war…We had a account, some time since, of his being priss'd aboard of a British man of War, which he confirms. After he made his escape, he was employed as a common sailorAfter the declaration of war, he was taken prisoner and committed to Dartmoor Prison and remained there until Peace was estabished, Very Fine, a very scarce war rate way letter.
