(Western Ephemera Balances) 1847-1851, San Francisco Letters. Family correspondence of several letters (two hand written dated 1850 & 1851, others typed script letters), describing life and experiences in San Francisco, with much detail as to crops, wildlife, etc., quality of living, requests for fruit trees and seed to be sent; also not wanting to urge recipients to come West for fear of their being disappointed; at one point saying brushing teeth is the hardest work required; wonderful eyewitness accounts of daily life; please inspect (no photo).

Approximately 80 items; mostly Wells, Fargo & Co. bank checks and receipts (some with revenues), 1880 Calavaras county clerk remittance envelopes, Mariposa money package, other receipts from Beekman's Express, Freeman & Co.and Adam's & Co., cabinet photo of Col. Dudley Evans, Oregon Stage Co. checks, etc. (no photo).

(Western Ephemera Balances) Western Miscellaneous Ephemera, 1850-1920. Box with an array of paper ephemera, much related to the Northwest - Oregon Territory, Washington Terr., California, etc; consisting of letterheads, railroad & stage coach miscellany, express company with Wells Fargo waybills & receipts; bank checks, 1880's post office money order branch receipts from small Oregon towns; 1891 personal letter from U.S. Consulate in Amoy, China; mining company ephemera; 1867 Oregon Stage Company fancy way-bill; historical lithograph views, etc; some interesting Civil War naval related covers and letters including "Ship Tamarlane at Sea off Turks Island, March 31st, 1862", interesting content; 1863 Santa Rosa Island (Pensacola); "USS Grand Gulf" "off New Orleans, La., Sept 13th 1865"; nice legal size Wells Fargo frank on 6¢ entire with Carlin, Nevada 1878 oval cancel; should be carefully valued by the "Ebayer" (no photo).

(Western Ephemera Balances) California Document Group. 38 items; includes 1867 Chico Gold and Silver Mining Co. stock certificate signed by John Bidwell, various mining co. documents including Diana Gold and Silver Mining Co., Ella & Jensen Copper Mine and Eureka Grass Valley Mining Co., etc., 1850-60's San Francisco P.O. box receipts, many bank checks including 1850 Dunbar's California Bank (blank), Adams & Co., Page, Bacon & Co. including four 1854 checks signed by Joseph L. Folsom, illustrated lettersheet (faulty), etc., F.-V.F.
