Clear strike of red boxed handstamp (GD150) on 1854 folded letter sheet to Hostotipaquillo with manuscript "Via Guadalajara" routing endorsement at top, matching "2" reales rate handstamp; some archival tape reinforcement at folds, Very Fine, this is the only known pre-stamp period cover bearing the Puerto De Ipala handstamp (see Mexicana, Oct 2003, pg 180-186).

Mexico, (Guanajuato) Guanajuato. 5 covers and 2 fronts; includes colonial front with red two-line postmark (GN1), 1831 folded letter with straight line handstamp (GN3), oval postmark (GN4) with matching boxed date stamp (tape stains/sealed tears), 1843 boxed date stamp (GN5) with "1" rate handstamp and official eagle cachet, circular date stamp (GN6) on 1850 folded letter and on 1854 certified front with certified boxed date stamp, and 1856 folded letter sheet with two-line postmark (Schatzkes 468B) and matching "2" rate handstamp, Very Fine overall.
