Single (small defect), tied by "Charleston, S.C./Jun. 17" cds on buff cover to Clinton, Laurens Railroad, S.C., cover forwarded to Martins Depot with second 1862 5¢ blue (close to large margins), tied by bold strike of "Clinton, S.C./Jun. 10, 1862" (error day slug) balloon type cds, Very Fine and interesting use.

Most unusual to see a cover with two single use of the Confederate States 5¢ London prints used prior to the rate change. One used to pay the primary postage and one used to pay the forwarding postage.

Confederacy, 1862, 5¢ Blue, Archer & Daly Printing. Horizontal pair, four large margins, neatly tied by bold "Jackson" (Miss.) straight-line postmark on cover to Coffeeville, Ala., Extremely Fine and rare, one of the few Confederate straight line postmarks and an unusually clear strike as this postmark deteriorated very early, pictured in the Bush book on Confederate fancy postmarks.
