Samoa, 1890-92, ½d Purple Brown, Perf 12x11½. Top margin gutter block of 8, full o.g., showing patched horizontal mixed rotary and line double perfs between stamps, light crease in selvage, Very Fine.

The older rotary perf machine on occasion had been used to correct some of the dramatically mis-perfed sheets made from the new line perf machine.

Iroquois" endorsement at left, manuscript "8" crossed out with 6 alongside for prepaying registry fee, reverse with purple "San Francisco, Cal., Registered, Feb 18, 1892" cds (seldom seen on covers from Samoa) and Chicago receiver, Very Fine, an unusual early Palm Tree issue registry usage (Odenweller 49).
