The 6th Olympiad was awarded to Berlin. To accommodate the Games a stadium was constructed in Berlin-Grunewald, and on June 8, 1913, the opening ceremony of the stadium was attended by Kaiser Wilhelm II. However, due to the outbreak of World War I, the 1916 Games did not take place.
