(First Bi-Color General Issue) 1869, 15¢ brown & blue, type I. Tied by 4-bar grid on small 1869 cover to Paris, originally marked with red New York "3" exchange office cds but found to be overweight and handstamped "Insufficiently Paid" with black "New 24 York" cds, French "16" (decimes) due handstamp and blue Cherbourg entry cds, Very Fine, ex-Juhring; with 1980 P.F. certificate.

1898, 1¢/15¢ Color changes overprinted "Ultramar". Without gum as usual, each handstamped in blue, exceptionally bright and fresh, F.-V.F., exceedingly rare with No More Than Two Examples of Each Stamp Believed To Exist.; with 2003 Sismondo certificate.

The "Ultramar" (Overseas) overprint was applied by Portuguese postal authorities to foreign stamps received from the U.P.U. in Berne before redistributing those stamps to the post offices in their overseas colonies.

1898, 1¢ green + 2¢ red, two singles. Tied by Wichita, Kans. flag cancel, Mar 3, 1901 on cover to Sydney Australia, handstamped "25/CTMS/T" and "5D" due markings with single and block of New South Wales dues (J2) affixed and initialed to cover the short payment, backstamped Sydney, Apr 24; small opening tears at top and part of flap missing, Very Fine and attractive.
