Dead Letter Office, Small Format Forwarding Seals, Types 1-11 Complete. Complete collection of these labels mounted on 5 exhibit pages comprising the eight different designs with a total of eleven different listings (three with different perfs), better includes #OXA2 on reverse of Grant Letter Sheet (U293), the only recorded example of DLO seal on such; a Very Fine collection.

The forwarding seals were applied on the back of envelopes for which the Dead Letter Office was able to determine a correct address. The corrected address is always on the front in red ink.

Official Seal - Dead Letter Office, 1882, black, complete year date. Label affixed to reverse of 1883 cover bearing 3¢ green (207) tied by "Newport Ky May 2 83" duplex, "Not Directed" and purple "Deficiency in Address Supplied at Dead Letter Office" circular handstamps; opened for display, Fine and rare.

The large format forwarding seals were used on mail that was not deliverable and was returned by the Dead Letter Office to the originating post office.

Affixed over edge on 1899 cover bearing 2¢ red (279B) tied by "Jersey City Sep 8 99" duplex, purple "Unintelligible" straightline handstamp and matching "Jersey City, N.J., Sep 11 1899" backstamp, "Dead Letter Office Sep 12 99" backstamp, Very Fine.

Dead Letter Office, Package Tracking Seal, Type 3, black. With red manuscript DLO record number, affixed to wrapper from Syracuse N.Y. to Parlato & Co., New York City, redirected by Dead Letter Office to Malta, faulty with brittle paper, Fine, the only recorded usage bearing the type 3 seal.

May 1 1900" cds and handstamp "48" in circle struck, purple "Unmailable, Subject to Letter Rate of Postage" with blue crayon "12" and matching purple handstamp on reverse "Sent to D.L.O. Baltimore, Md. May 5 1900", Very Fine and most unusual, one of three recorded type 4 seals used on cover.

Baltimore, Md. Oct 20 1894", Very Fine and most unusual, one of two recorded type 5 seals used on cover.
