Official Seal - Sea Post, 1895, black. Four seals used to repair circa 1899 cover from Germany to Chicago Ill. bearing Germany 10kr blue, handstamped "T." for tax due, Postage Due 10¢ carmine (J35) pair tied by New York "Due 20" duplex, faults, Fine, One of only two recorded examples of this Sea Post Office seal recorded on cover.

Lot 1681 /o   

Typeset Seal, black, types 1-6. A complete set of the six different types, types 1 & 6 are unused, rest are used with typical creasing, type 4 with purple "Received Unsealed at P. O. at Cupertino, Cal." two-line handstamp, a F.-V.F. group, a rare and perhaps unique showing of all six types, there are only 11 used and 8 unused examples recorded.

The border is from Central Type Foundry and can be dated to about 1890. The typeface of the second line is from the Dickinson Type Foundry in 1892.

Official Seal - Typeset, black, Type 4. Affixed mostly on reverse and over right edge of a badly damaged 1913 commercial cover bearing 2¢ Franklin tied by "Washington D.C. Jul 19 1913" machine cancel to Castine Me., Fine and rare, one of only three recorded on-cover usages.
