Langton's Pioneer Express. Black company frank on 1861 3¢ entire to San Francisco & handstamped rare Langton's boxed Longbar handstamp in greenish blue with manuscript "13 Nov'r" below, handed over to Wells, Fargo & Co. with their blue oval company handstamp of "Marysville/Nov. 14" for transmission to San Francisco, Very Fine and rare.

From Noisy Carrier's/Mail/77 Long Wharf S.F. Cal. Fancy rectangle handstamp in green on 1853-55 6¢ Nesbitt entire to Patchogue, New York, cancelled by "San Francisco, Cal., 16 Feb." cds on the indicium, "Feby 15 1855" pencil docket on the back, minor corner wear, Very Fine.

Noisy Carriers Publishing Hall, 77 Long Wharf San Francisco, Charles P. Kimball Proprietor. Full sharp strike of 3-line handstamp in small type, on fresh cover to Oakdale, Pa., franked with 1851, 3¢ dull red, two singles tied by "San Francisco, Cal, Jul 1" cds (Williams SAF-360); left stamp with nick at upper right, otherwise Extremely Fine, a superb example of this rare Noisy Carrier small type handstamp, pictured on Coburn's Letters of Gold (pg. 115).

Noisy Carriers Mail, San Francisco. Oval handstamp on 1856 cover to Auburn, N.Y., franked with ample to large margin 1855, 10¢ green, type III tied by "San Francisco, Cal., Dec 5" cds (Williams SAF-360), Very Fine, a very scarce letter bag operator usage.
Scott No. 15    Estimate $750 - 1,000.

Sent on the P.M.S.C. - Golden Gate departing San Francisco on December 5th and arriving in Panama on December 18th, then by U.S.M.S.C. - Illinois departing Chagres on December 19th and arriving in New York on December 28th.

Oregon Expresses. Lot of 16 covers, various companies including Beekman's Express/Jacksonville, O. T. red oval handstamp on "Collect 50¢" courthouse cover, Pacific Express green printed frank (unusual color) on 4¢ legal size entire with 1888 "Northern Pacific & Pacific Express Co's" Portland Office handstamp, Pacific Union Express red printed frank on 1864 3¢ entire with all-over shaded advertising and San Francisco company handstamp and Portland postmark (coastal steamer use to Roseburg, with 1869 business letter), seven Tracy covers including stampless use to Albany with Portland company handstamp (with letter headed Dalles from a woman to her husband), and six Wells Fargo covers including 1864 3¢ entire with Walla Walla printed address and Northern Coast Messenger company handstamp (coastal steamer use via Portland) and 1870 3¢ entire with unlisted Baker City handstamp that may be a Wells Fargo marking, some covers with faults, but still F.-V.F. lot, ex-Mader.

Organ & Tibbetts' Excelsior Express. Boxed frank on 1864, 3¢ pink entire to Dutch Flat, indicia torn out with replacement affixed, Fine appearance, this being one of only two known examples of this rare frank, both of which have a replacement indicia.

Pacific Express Co. Red printed frank on 1864, 3¢ pink entire to San Luis Rey endorsed "via: San Diego", with bold "R. E. Raimond/General Shipping And/Commission Merchant/Front Street Near Washington/San Francisco" oval corner card handstamp, sent by sea from San Francisco to San Diego, where it entered the mails with "San Diego, Cal., Aug 3" cds and matching obliterator, taken to its destination of San Luis Rey for ultimate delivery to Cave J. Couts, a 49'rs and wealthy landholder who resided on nearby Rancho Guajome; cover tear at top into frank, otherwise Very Fine.

Reynolds Express. Clear strike of small shield handstamp on 1850 incoming cover to San Francisco, manuscript "Freetown, Ms., June 5" origin postmark and matching "40" rate; minor corner wear at right, Very Fine, a very rare and choice example of Reynold's early small shield handstamp, ex Dale-Lichtenstein.
Estimate    $1,000 - 1,500.

Reynolds Express served the mining camps located in the district known as the Southern Mines, carrying the miners' outgoing mail to Stockton, San Francisco and Sacramento, and picking up incoming letters at those locales for delivery to the gold camps.

W. F. Singer & Co's Feather River Express/Connecting With Wells, Fargo & Co. Blue oval handstamp on stampless cover that originated with Wells Fargo, with "Wells Fargo & Co. Express/San Francisco" darker blue shield handstamp (Leutzinger type 1-6) and matching "Paid" double-lined oval handstamp, to Bidwell's Bar, "1855" docket on the back, Very Fine, a gorgeous cover, the ideal companion to the preceding cover, ex-Kramer.
