Wells, Fargo & Co./San Francisco. 1888 usage to Seven Palms, on 2¢ green entire with Wells, Fargo & Co. company frank; forwarded to Cadiz, via Danby, where "Advertised" was applied, then to Los Angeles, with scarce purple boxed "Gents' General Delivery" and 1¢ Postage Due adhesive; interesting transit, Very Fine cover.

Partial blue oval handstamp (Leutzinger type 11-9) on 1861 3¢ pink entire with company printed frank ("Coast Routes" variety with the right end cut off) and unusually clear "Post Office, Victoria V.I." Coat of Arms blue handstamped postal frank, Simon Sinsheimer correspondence to San Francisco, slightly reduced at right, Very Fine.

Wells Fargo & Co., Victoria, Jul 15. Blue oval datestamp on 1861, 10¢ green entire to San Francisco with Wells, Fargo & Co. printed frank and Vancouver Island 1865, 5c rose tied by blue oval "Paid" handstamp, also tied by neat manuscript 1867 docketing, Extremely Fine.

Wells, Fargo & Co., Victoria. Two strikes of blue oval handstamp tying Canada 1872, 6¢ yellow brown, pair and single on legal size cover to San Francisco, Cal., black printed franked at top; minor tone spots at top and a few small stamp flaws, F.-V.F.

Oval handstamps tying 3¢ orange red on three covers each with a different style Victoria express frank; one with blue oval handstamp tying and "Wells, Fargo & Co., Over Our California and Coast Routes" frank, another with violet "Victoria, B.C, Nov 27, 1886" oval date stamp and "Wells, Fargo & Co's Express, Over Our Lines in the United States" frank, last tied by violet handstamp and with blue illustrated "Domestic Frank" frank; later slightly reduced at right, Very Fine.

Wines & Co. Express. Manuscript endorsement on legal size cover with "Agency of the Accessory Transit Co. of Nicaragua / San Francisco" corner card, to Charles Whitney, Nicaragua S.S. Co Agency, New York; endorsed "Pr. Wines & Co"; contents on fancy "Agency" letterhead datelined "San Francisco, July 24 1855"; letter talks of setting up Wines & Co Express in California and how expensive rents are; sent outside the mails and is probably the first cover carried by Wines & Co. from San Francisco; cover with some wear and staining, F.-V.F. and rare.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

Whitney was probably related to Cornelius S. Whitney, a partner in Wines Express company.
