Zanzibar, Postage Due, 1927-30, 12¢ black on green. Affixed to fresh pre-printed addressed cover, "T" due handstamp and blue crayon "20c" indicating postage deficiency, reverse with "Zanzibar, Ja 4, 26" cds; cover a bit reduced at right, Extremely Fine, a very rare on cover usage in exceptional condition; with 2011 S. Sismondo certificate. SG No. D7.

This cover, dated January 4, 1926, is among the earliest examples known of the Zanzibar postage dues. The precise date for the introduction of these stamps is not known. However, the fact that January 4, 1926 was a Monday, suggests that this cover may represent a "first day of use" of the postage due stamps.
