Paul Hubartt Hand-Painted Cachets, 1956-1990. Impressive collection of 60 pristine FDC's handpainted by Paul L Hubartt, the principal artist designing cachets for Fluegel from 1952-1967; he produced many hand-painted designs with his own signature; many are numbered and most were in editions of from 4 to about 15, several seem to be unique including "Gone With The Wind"; notable issues include $5 Hamilton (#1055), 1983 Pearl Buck (3 of 3), 1983 Babe Ruth (3 of 4), 1988 Cats (5 of 10); 1988 $10 Duck (4 of 4); 1991 $9.95 Express Mail (2 of 9); 1989 Dinosaurs (2 of 10), etc; many are addressed in pencil to Hubartt himself in Kankakee, Ill; these covers retail to $70 each, a rare opportunity.
