1860-O $10 Liberty. PCGS graded EF-45. The 1860-O Liberty Head eagle boasts a mintage of 11,100 pieces. This scarce New Orleans issue was produced during the last year before the Civil War. (PCGS Pop. 34 in EF-45, only 52 graded higher. Total of 99 in all grades, 9/24/11).

(PCGS Pop. 15 in AU-53, only 14 graded higher, the highest grade being a single MS-62 and the next highest two AU-58 coins. Total of 99 in all grades, 9/24/11).

One of the more elusive San Francisco dates that suffered a high attrition rate from heavy circulation in the West where coinage was in great demand for commercial transactions. The surviving population is estimated at 60 to 80 examples. Mintage 12,500 (PCGS Pop. 9 in VF-35, only 29 graded higher, the highest grade being a single MS-61, the next highest being four AU-55's. Total of 47 in all grades, 9/24/11).
