Camp of Second Mass., Regt., L.N. Rosenthal allover camp scene design on reverse of legal size cover to Boston, Mass., franked with 1861, 3¢ rose, two singles tied by blue "Fredrick, Md., Feb 13" cds, with original enclosure with matching illustrated letterhead from Col. George Leonard Andrews datelined "Cantonment Hicks, Frederic Md, Feb 12, 1862", with news & discussion of Burnside's Expedition to capture Roanoke Island…The arrest of General Stone and the charges against him of treasonable conduct have created great excitement here.; some cover edge wear and small tears, otherwise Very Fine, a wonderful and rare Rosenthal patriotic cover and letterhead rarely found in this condition.
