Hawaii, 1866 (Jun. 2) incoming from Manchester, England, folded letter to Honolulu, Hawaii bearing G.B. 6d purple pair tied by "Manchester JU 2 1866" duplex with "498" barred oval, endorsed "Via New York per Scotia", blue Koecher & Co. merchant oval; vertical file fold affects one 6d, Fine and scarce use from Great Britain.

Hawaii, 1885 incoming registered envelope from New South Wales, 4d registered envelope bearing 4d lilac tied by grid cancel on cover to Honolulu, Hawaii, "Registered Letter Office, Dec 4 '85" origin cds, perfect bold strike of "Honolulu Hawaii, 21 Dec 1885" cds in brilliant red, reverse with Sydney Foreign Stamp Depot handstamp; address slightly affected by water, Very Fine and scarce inbound use.

Hawaii, 1887-1905, correspondence to Prof. W. D. Alexander at Honolulu, group of 8 covers comprising various frankings from Boston and Oakland Cal. including #205 (two solo); 210 (3 with pair and single); 216 pair, 226, and three 319 solo uses; some faults, Fine group.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

William DeWitt Alexander (1833–1913) was born in Hawaii as son of a missionary who was an educator, author and linguist in the Kingdom of Hawaii and Republic of Hawaii. He published books on Hawaiian History and later constructed maps as surveyor for the Territory of Hawaii, assisting the U.S. National Geodetic Survey.

Hawaii, 1855 New York, N.Y. to Honolulu, Sandwich Islands, U.S. 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire uprated with clear to ample margin 1851, 1¢ blue, type IV (position 44L1L double transfer) + 3¢ dull red, horizontal pair tied by "New York, Oct 29" cds, 3¢ pair additionally tied by "New York, Nov 5" ocean mail grid cds; expertly repaired cover tear at upper left and backflap re-attached, Very Fine appearance; with 1980 P.F. certificate.
Estimate    $2,000 - 3,000.

Sent on the U.S.M.S.C. - George Law departing New York on November 5th and arriving in Aspinwall on November 15th, then by P.M.S.C. - Golden Age departing Panama on November 16th and arriving in San Francisco on November 29th. Placed aboard and bark - Yankee which departed San Francisco on Dec 2nd and arrived in Honolulu on December 15th.
