Maury No. 13 I.

France, 1854, Napoleon III imperforate, 20c blue on bluish, type I, folded letter franked with strip of 4 20c blue, nicely cancelled with #6 in dotted diamond postmarked double circle "Paris 31 Juil 61" to Mexico, endorsed "Par Steamer de Southampton", with red "London Paid" and red "boxed P.P.", scarce destination & franking, Very Fine and attractive. Maury No. 14 I.

France, 1854, Napoleon III imperforate, 80c lake on yellowish, used with 10c bister & 20c blue (14, 15) tied by small numeral "441" on 1857 folded cover from Bordeaux to Reval, Russia (Estonia), postmarked Bordeaux cds, 22 May, with red boxed "PD" and red Russian entry cds, 25 May, two other Russian markings are dated May 16 & 19 (by the Julian calendar, May 28 & 31 by the Gregorian calendar); stamps cut in with 10c corner overlapping cover at bottom; otherwise Very Fine. Maury No. 17A.

France, 1859, Napoleon III imperforate, 80c rose on pinkish, used with perforated 40c orange (27) tied by large numeral "3638" on small 1863 cover to Santiago de Chile, Chile, postmarked St. Germain-en-Laye cds, 30 Aug, with red boxed "P.P.", red London transit cds, 31 Jul, and "15" in circle with British P.O. in "Panama, Se 22, 1863" cds, no backstamps; 80c with very minor damage due to edge placement, still a Very Fine mixed issue franking to a scarce destination. Maury No. 16.

France, 1855-70, Group of five covers to the United States, 1). 1855 Havre to New Orleans, franked with 1853 20c blue & 40c orange; 2). 1858 small mourning cover, Paris to St. Martinville, La., franked with 1860 80c rose; 3). 1867 Paris to Millburn, N.J. franked with two 1862 40c orange & postmarked "Ministere des Finances" double circle postmark; 4). 1870 Paris to Philadelphia franked with 1867 20c blue strips of 3 & 4; 5). 1875 Paris to Memphis, Ten. franked with pair of 1871 25c blue; nice markings, few minor flaws, generally F.-V.F.
