(San Joaquin) Marietta, Cal., Oct 30 / 59, manuscript postmark (no postmarks recorded by Williams) and "Paid 10cts", on illustrated "From San Francisco Via Los Angeles" six-horse stagecoach cover with wording crossed out, bold straight line handstamp "OVERLAND", to Georgia; some soiling and edge wear, Fine and rare, the only known usage of the straight line "Overland" handstamp on a six horse stagecoach illustrated envelope, ex Lichtenstein.

(Sierra) Rose's Bar, September 14, 1850 (no P.O.) dateline on folded letter to Mount Vernon, O., entering the mails with red "San Francisco, 40, Sep 30" integral rate cds (Williams SAF-290), interesting mining letter about tough times most miners are having, talks of a river called the Trinity about 250 miles north as it might not be so crowded, if doesn't improve will come home, poor pay and high costs, etc.; minor file fold, Very Fine.

(Solano) Rio Vista, Cal., Oct 10 (1860), cds (SOL-1230) with "FREE" handstamp and endorsed by C. Kirkpatrick P.M., with lengthy contents, Extremely Fine and choice, the only example of this postmark and only stampless cover known.

(Trinity) Trinity, Cal., April 13/57, cds with manuscript date (TRI-1850, R-4) and manuscript "Paid 10" rate alongside on fresh cover to Bucksport, Me.; missing most of backflap, otherwise Extremely Fine, a gem strike.

(Tulare) Keysville, March 6/59, manuscript postmark on small ladies cover to New Orleans, La., franked with manuscript canceled 1857, 10¢ green, type II and manuscript routing endorsement "Via Tehuantepec" at top, with original enclosure, Very Fine, the Tehuantepec route only operated only between Oct. 1, 1858 and Sept. 27, 1859 and handled very little mail, letters for carriage over the route had to have the route endorsement.
