San Pedro/Sept. 15, type I manuscript postmark with matching "25" rate on 1834 folded letter to Tappanannock, Va.; letter datelined "Oscilla River, Jefferson County" regarding the sale of slaves, F.-V.F., The earliest recorded postmark from San Pedro and the only example of type I, ex Thompson.

Silver Spring fla./Sept. 29, type I manuscript postmark with matching "paid 3" on 1852 folded letter to Tallahassee the earliest of two known manuscript postmarks, Very Fine, The earlier of just two recorded Silver Spring stampless covers.

Lot 1726    

St. Augustine, 5 Feby 1822, type II straightline postmark with manuscript date on folded letter to Tunkhannook, Pa., manuscript "Via Philada" endorsement & "25" rate, Extremely Fine and choice; One of the finest of only four recorded examples of this rare postmark used during the American Military Government period.
Estimate    $1,500 - 2,000.

This has an interesting letter regarding trip to Florida ("… saw an Indian Wigwam"), plus vegetation & living conditions in Florida.

Flo. -/Nov 8, bold strike type XII oval postmark in red with matching type c "Free" on 1826 folded letter to the Quarter Master General in Washington, D.C.; single file fold with partial splitting, otherwise Very Fine and choice., The only recorded example of the type XIIc combination in red, ex Light.

Letter is from Jos. M. White, Member of Congress from the Territory, urging passage of the pending appropriation bill for building roads in East Florida.
