Nov. 25 duplex to Bristol Conn., latter with large multicolored illustrated label showing Hunter ready to Demolish Skeet Machine with Rifle, Very Fine pair.

Lot 1992    

Henry's Patent Repeating Rifle, printed corner card of the "New Haven Arms Co." on circa 1863 cover bearing 1861 3¢ rose (preuse tear) tied by New Haven Feb 3 cds duplexed with negative fancy Star of David cancel, a Very Fine use, an important early gun cover.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

The New Haven Arms Co. was the precursor to the Winchester Repeating Fire Arms Co., which was renamed in 1866. The Henry rifle of 1860 was used in considerable numbers by certain Union army units in the American Civil War. The Henry rifle ensured New Haven Arms' success, and together with the Spencer rifle established the lever-action repeater in the firearms market.
