1861, 3¢ pigeon blood pink, neatly tied by "G.B.D., Nov. 6" straight line postmark (General Banks Division) on cover with red, blue & black "President Lincoln and his Cabinet" patriotic design with S.C. Upham titled imprint on reverse, to Johnsons Creek, N.Y., otherwise Fine, a very rare usage; with 2003 P.F. certificate.

1861, 3¢ rose, tied by target cancel and matching "North Springfield Pa. Nov 18" cds as forwarding postage on circa 1862 Quartermaster General's Office official business envelope with free frank "M.C. Meigs" handstamp endorsement as Quartermaster General, addressed to Lieut. Holliday of the Co J. 14th Pa. Ca. in Eire Pa., forwarded twice to Springfield Pa. and finally to Ann Arbor Mich.; reduced slightly at right with small paper loss, Fine, a scarce forwarded use with combination of free franking and 3¢ postage.

1861, 10¢ yellow green (s.e. at right) in combination with 1863, 5¢ brown on 1861, 3¢ pink entire to Marburg, Germany with Wells, Fargo & Co. black company frank at top, all tied by crossroads cancels at New York with red "N. York, 7 Paid "exchange cds and red Aachen boxed transit date stamp, manuscript "per Steamer Constitution connexion to German line of steamers from New York" endorsement; 5¢ stamp with margin clip from overlap at top, otherwise Very Fine, a rare usage carried by Wells, Fargo & Co. and entering the mails in New York, with U.S. adhesives intending to pay the Hamburg rate however sent by Prussian closed mail.
