Rocky Ford, Colo., 1-24-76, manuscript postmark on 1¢ postal card to Emporia, Kansas, with interesting message on reverse…We leave here tomorrow for the foot hills on a hunting and trapping expedition and my next post office will be Walsomburg (Walsenburgh), Huaffanan (sic) Co., Colorado, Very Fine, the only recorded territorial postmark from this town.

Lot 785    

Rollinsville, Col., Sep 2, cds and circular duplex on 1¢ postal card to Denver, message on reverse with 1875 year date, Very Fine, the only recorded example of this territorial postmark.
Estimate    $150 - 200.

Located at the north edge of Gilpin county, Rollinsville was on the road from the Boulder county mines to Central City. It became an important stop on the wagon road over the Continental Divide, and subsequently on the Denver and Northwestern Railroad into the Middle Park region.

Lot 786    

Rosita, Col., May 3/75, manuscript postmark on 1¢ postal card to Greeley, Col., Very Fine, the only recorded manuscript territorial postmark from Rosita.
Estimate    $200 - 300.

Southwest of Canon City, reached by roads along Grape Creek or Hardscrabble Creek, was the Rosita mining district in the West Mountain Valley. The post office was established late in the territorial period on July 8, 1874.

Rosita, Col., Oct 22, 1875, bold cds and target handstamp canceling on 1¢ postal card to Hollis Centre, Me., Very Fine and choice, the only recorded circular date stamp territorial postmark from Rosita.
