Mexico, 1890, 5c blue, tied by Mexico cds on 1889 cover addressed to Gen. M.G. Vallejo at Lachryma Montis in Sonoma, Cal., "Via El Paso" routing endorsement with partial transit backstamp; small tear in adhesive, otherwise Very Fine, ex Schimmer.
Scott No. 178a    Estimate $200 - 300.

Lachryma Montis (Tears of the Mountain) was General Vallejo's country real in Sonoma. A mountain spring provided water for the house all year round.
