Great Britain, (Ocean Penny Postage) Ocean Penny Postage, The Worlds Want and Britain's Boon, Bradshaw & Blacklock design with imprint at left and two-line verse at lower right (unlisted state), on local London cover addressed by social reform activist Elihu Burritt, franked with 1841, 1d red brown tied by bar oval handstamp, reverse with red London origin and "BV, My 28, 1851" receiving cds's; some light cover edge staining, otherwise Very Fine, a Rare Unlisted Design State of the Bradshaw & Blacklock Ocean Penny Postage Envelope; ex Salzer.

This design bears the imprint at left and verse at lower right as in state 4 (see Bodily et al "British Pictorial Envelopes of the 19th Century" pages 229-232) but has the message in the sails as in both state 1 & 2.

Valentine design (state 3), on cover franked with 1841, 1d red brown tied by grid handstamp, reverse with red "Glascow, Au 12, 1850" origin and blue Sunderland receiving cds's, Very Fine and choice, a lovely example of this design state with the four ships right of Neptune removed to give more room for the address.

Valentine's second design on reverse of cover incorporating Ocean Penny Postage, World Trade and Peace & Brotherhood motifs, to Wimborne franked with 1841, 1d red brown canceled by "35" barred oval handstamp, with "Wimborne, My 18, 1853" receiving cds and red origin backstamp; some small hinge remnants on front, Very Fine, a very scarce used design.

Valentine design (state 1, spelling error corrected) on cover to London, franked with ample to large margin 1841, 1d red brown tied by "352" barred oval handstamp, clear "Hayle, My 7, 1851" origin and receiving cds's; light cover age spots, otherwise Extremely Fine; signed H. Bloch.

Valentine design (state 1 with Arbitration spelling error) on cover to Enfield franked with 1841, 1d red brown tied by "927" barred oval handstamp, Hemsey cds on front and red "Yarmouth N. Fork, Ja 10, 1854" origin backstamp; some cover tone spots, otherwise Very Fine, a very scarce J. Valentine design with spelling error.

This error of spelling in the first state design was quickly corrected as the majority of examples of State 1 have the corrected spelling.

Valentine creations; includes two different Peace and Universal Brotherhood envelopes (one light even toning), two similar "Intemperance is the Bane of Society" envelopes (one with used 1d imperf affixed), League of Universal Brotherhood "Ocean Penny Postage" (league seal on backflap) and Valentine's second design Ocean Penny Postage, also three Deraemaeker reproductions, Very Fine overall.

Valentine design (state 1) on fresh cover to Belfast, franked with 1841, 1d red brown tied by bar handstamp, reverse with red "Glascow, 15 Jy, 1850" origin and blue receiving cds's; small internal nick in stamp and opening cut at top affecting design, otherwise Very Fine, an early usage of this Valentine temperance design, ex Salzer.
