Great Central Fair For the Sanitary Commission, battlefield design in blue with Philadelphia imprint crossed out at left and manuscript "Delaware Department" added, on cover front franked with 2¢ Blackjack tied by "Wilmington, Del., Apr 19" cds, locally addressed; corner repair at top left and central tone spot, F.-V.F., a unique usage of this Great Central Fair design in blue and one of two recorded usages of this design used from the Delaware Department, illustrated in Kantor Sanitary Fairs (pages 24 & 144), ex-Kantor.
Scott No. 73    Estimate $400 - 600.

Although the Great Central Fair was held in Philadelphia, Pa., it had help and cooperation of the citizens of Delaware and New Jersey.

Great Central Fair For the Sanitary Commission, illustrated battlefield imprint with "Delaware Department, Wilmington." imprint at left, on cover to Bridgeville, Del., franked with 1861, 3¢ rose, top margin single canceled by grid handstamp and tied by "Wilmington, Del, Jun 21" cds postmark during the Philadelphia fair; slight cover edge wear, Very Fine, one of two known illustrated fair usages from the Delaware Department and The Only Recorded Example of the Delaware Department Printed Imprint, illustrated in Kantor Sanitary Fairs (page 151), ex-Kantor.
