Langton's Pioneer Express, Paid, black company frank on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to San Francisco, cancelled by blue oval "Wells, Fargo & Co. Express Nevada" handstamp, with additional "May 8" date stamp, Very Fine, a nice conjunctive usage.

Mann's Inland Express, Crescent City., Paid, double boxed black printed frank (Haller FM1) on 1853, 3¢ Nesbitt entire to Yreka, California with blue "Waldo, OR." cds; printed frank with internal tear and removal of diagonal stroke mark, otherwise Very Fine, a great rarity, only two examples on used entires known, ex Chalconer; with 2011 P.F. certificate.
Estimate    $500 - 750.

Mann operated an express service between Crescent City and the gold strikes on the Illinois River at Sailors Diggings or Waldo, Oregon as the location was also known.
