Pacific Union Express Co., Paid, red printed frank on 1864 3¢ pink entire to Cincinnati, Ohio, entered the eastbound overland mails with blue "Virginia City, Nev., Nov. 17" cds and matching blue quartered cork cancel; barest reduction at right, Very Fine, a very scarce eastbound usage carried to the mails by the Pacific Union Express Co.

Schoch's Copper City Express, printed frank in ornamental frame (Haller FS4, Ty. 2) on rebacked front of 1861 3¢ pink entire to Prairie, Cal., entered mails with "Shasta Cal., Mar. 31" circular datestamp and grid cancel, sender's notation "By Mail", front has small edge nicks, Fine appearance, extremely rare, illustrated in Letters of Gold, ran from 1863 to 1865 from Shasta to Copper City, Cal., there are nine total examples known, five of this style, ex Edwards.

Thomes & Skaddens Express, Susanville Cal., large double-circle datestamp on 3¢ green entire with Thomes & Skadden's Express blue frank to San Francisco, conjunctive usage with blue "Wells, Fargo & Co.,Reno" oval datestamp; reduced at right into indicia, otherwise Very Fine.
Estimate    $300 - 400.

A rare frank, from 1870 to 1874 Thomes & Skadden operated their express between Susanville (whose first residents thought they were in Utah, then Nevada) and Reno, connecting with Wells, Fargo & Co.
