1967, $1 O'Neill, black violet color of error, corner margin plate "32903" block of 4, o.g., never hinged, bright and fresh, F.-V.F., a very rare color of error plate block, with only six plate blocks recorded and the only plate block from this position and number (from the original 1975 survey).
Scott No. 1294b; $750    Estimate $1,000 - 1,500.

The BEP analyzed the pigment components from this issue and announced "Analyses that were conducted on the pigment components show that the wrong ink was used for the production of these stamps.". This error has been newly listed in the Scott 2014 catalog with a catalog price of $750, however no sales data is known for this rare variety. In comparison, the much more common $5 Prexie in the red brown error of color shade lists at $15,000 for a plate block.
