9-Section Grid, clear strike cancels 1870, 7¢ vermilion on 1871 cover to Bremen, Germany, partial strike of New York exchange cds, carried as endorsed by NGL Line Bremen from New York Jun. 22nd to Southampton arriving Jul. 4th, Bremen (7.7) arrival backstamp, Very Fine. Scott No. 149.
Weiss No. TR-G17    Estimate $200 - 300.

One of only three recorded examples of this NYFM, recorded from May 13th to Jun. 22nd, 1871.

Circular Open Grid, bold strike in red ties 1861, 5¢ buff, additionally tied by black target duplexed with "New York Nov 12" cds, on 1861 folded cover to Halifax, Nova Scotia, endorsed "pr Europa", reverse with "U. States, Halifax, NO 15, 1861" arrival backstamp, black "5" pence due rating handstamp; no side flaps and stamp with tiny tear, otherwise Very Fine and unusual use; with 2014 P.F. certificate. Scott No. 67.

This letter was first directed to the N.Y. Foreign Mail division and cancelled by the red grid, then properly handled by the Domestic Division who cancelled with the duplex device.
